ARCILIA ANGELES GONZALEZ
Charcoal Landscape Artist in Kentucky
About the Artwork
Arcilia Gonzalez is a visual artist who specializes in charcoal landscapes, ink drawings, and acrylic paintings that explore the delicate interplay of light, shadow, and texture. She creates small- to medium-scale pieces that reflect themes of memory, emotion, and the natural world. Her artwork often focuses on landscapes and environments that encourage reflection, inviting viewers to slow down and see detail in simplicity.
“I create pieces using charcoal to strip down my work to the basic elements of light and dark, texture, and above all, detail. While I appreciate using other media, working with mediums that limit my color palette to black and white is challenging. I see powerful detail in landscapes and I want my work to encourage my viewers to go out and observe the natural environment. My goal is to capture a scene that feels so simple, yet contains so much.”
About the Artist
Born in Fort Worth, Texas, Arcilia grew up surrounded by creativity and has continued to expand her practice through education, community, and personal exploration. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Saint Mary in Kansas, double majoring in Studio Art (concentration in drawing) and English. Her work has been exhibited in Texas, Kansas, North Carolina, and Kentucky where she now calls home.
Beyond her studio practice, Arcilia is actively involved in her community. She serves as Secretary on the board of her brother’s nonprofit, Metro Blaze Blind Athletes of Texas, where she also provides social media and marketing support. As someone who grew up playing competitive soccer, Arcilia is a strong supporter of Metro Blaze’s mission to make adaptive sports accessible for athletes with visual impairments. Her passion for the program comes from a deep belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the teamwork, discipline, and joy of athletics.
In addition to her art and nonprofit work, Arcilia enjoys exploring new landscapes, finding inspiration in travel, spending time with her cat Louie and dog Indiana, and observing the quiet details of everyday life.. Her diverse interests continually inform her art, reinforcing the balance between personal expression and shared human experience.
